Confidence Man

Confidence Man are Brisbane's most outrageously fun band and one of Australia's great live acts. The four-piece — Janet Planet, Sugar Bones, Clarence McGuffie and Reggie Goodchild — make electro-pop and dance music that is equal parts absurdist comedy and genuine floor-filler. Their aesthetic is committed and completely their own — the costumes, the personas, the refusal to break character. In a music landscape full of earnest authenticity, Confidence Man's elaborate performance art is genuinely subversive. Confidence Man, Holiday, Feels Like a Different Thing — these are songs that work at 3am in a nightclub and at noon in a car with the windows down. The fact that they are also extremely funny is almost beside the point.
