Founded by Paul Curtis in 1994, Valve is one of Brisbane's longest-running independent labels. Home to Regurgitator, i heart hiroshima and Ben Ely, the label has always championed the weird, the loud and the genuinely original. Over 100 releases deep and still going.

Brisbane's home of electronic music since 1994. Trans:Com has documented and championed the city's electronic underground for three decades — from techno and industrial to synthpop and experimental. Their BNE archive project is the definitive document of Brisbane independent electronic music from 1979 to 2014.

Founded in 2000 by Lawrence English, Room40 is Brisbane's most internationally respected experimental label. With over 300 releases spanning ambient, electroacoustic and experimental music, Room40 has put Brisbane on the global avant-garde map. Artists include Ben Frost, Erik Griswold and dozens of the world's most important sound artists.

Founded in Fortitude Valley in 2002 by Paul Piticco, Dew Process is Brisbane's most significant independent label. Home to Powderfinger, Mallrat, Spacey Jane, Tkay Maidza and Bernard Fanning, the label also brings the world's best independent artists — Mumford & Sons, Sam Fender, London Grammar — to Australian audiences. Their ethos has always been simple: build career artists with the art at the core.

A small independent label based in Brisbane releasing export-grade rock since the mid-2000s. Plus One is home to Halfway and The Gin Club — two of Queensland's most enduring and beloved bands.

Brisbane's most celebrated underground indie label since 2009. Bedroom Suck specialises in loud, jangly guitar pop alongside ambient and electronic outliers. One of Australia's most consistent and beloved independent labels.

Ball Park Music's own label, home to one of Brisbane's most enduring indie rock bands. Prawn represents the DIY ethos at its most refined — a band that built a decade-long career entirely on their own terms, releasing music that consistently debuted at number one on the ARIA charts.

Named after Brisbane's postcode, 4000 Records is an artist-led independent label with a fierce focus on collaborating with Brisbane creatives. Founded by music advocate John Russell, the label has built a diverse roster that reads like a snapshot of the city's best emerging talent.

The Chats' own label, founded on pure DIY principle. When faced with a major label bidding war, the Sunshine Coast punk trio chose to do it themselves — and built one of Australia's most beloved independent labels in the process. Home to some of the most gloriously unhinged punk rock to come out of Queensland.
